This wine is made with grapes from our Mas d’en Blei vineyards. The vines tend to be planted on steep mountain slopes on slate soils. Harvesting is by hand using 10-15 kg boxes. The grapes then pass through a sorting table for careful selection. First the grapes are de-stemmed and then selected berry by berry. The grapes are separated according to variety.
Made with indigenous grapes, which are fermented separately, they first undergo a 24 hour cold soak before spending between 20 to 24 days in fermenting vats with daily “pigeages” or punch downs. The resulting wines are then aged in new 225 l French oak barrels (Q. Petrea) which are fine-grained and lightly toasted. The aging is also made with separation of varieties and parcels. Once bottled the wines are aged for another year in order to reach optimum maturity.
It's a dynamic wine due to a blend of different varieties.
COLOUR: Cherry red with a violet rim.
NOSE: This wine is fresh with well integrated aromas of ripe fruit with hints of smoky wood and mineral notes.
PALATE: Very lively due to its youth and freshness. Fine fruit displays a well integrated ageing process. This wine is very mineral, with ripe fruit, well-balanced acidity and tannins with a unique, lingering bouquet.
Food and Wine Pairing: Ideal with duck confit, roast duck or lamb, red meat, game meats.
Ageing potential: A complex wine which has needed bottle time in order to reach optimum maturity as well as further aromas and flavours. Drink in the next 4-5 years.
