This wine is made with grapes from our Mas d’en Blei vineyards. The vines tend to be planted on steep mountain slopes on slate soils. Harvesting is by hand using 10 kg boxes. The grapes then pass through a sorting table for careful selection. First the grapes are de-stemmed and then selected berry by berry. The grapes are separated according to variety and parcel.
Made with indigenous grapes, which are fermented separately, they first undergo a 24 hour cold soak before spending between 20 to 24 days in fermenting vats with daily “pigeages” or punch downs. The resulting wines are then aged in new 225 l French oak barrels (Q. Petrea) which are fine-grained and lightly toasted. The aging of 14 months in new French oak barrels is also made with separation of varieties and parcels. Once bottled the wines are aged for a year in order to reach optimum maturity.
It's a wine that expresses very well the main features of Priorat's Terroir.
COLOUR: Cherry red with a violet rim.
NOSE: This wine is fresh with well-integrated aromas of ripe fruit with hints of smoky wood and mineral notes.
PALATE: with all the good expressions of the Priorat. Impactful, mature. One can taste the plum, coffee and some note of pencil lead. Very tasteful, mature tanins and velvety. With a perfect texture.
Food and Wine Pairing: Ideal with duck confit, roast duck or lamb, read meat, game meats.
Ageing potential: A complex wine which has needed bottle time in order to reach optimum maturity as well as further aromas and flavours. Drink in the next 4-5 years.
